(In chaos theory) this is the phenomenon where the idea that small causes may have large effects.

The butterfly effect is derived from the metaphorical example of disturbances

such as a faraway butterfly flapping its wings influencing the intricacies of a tornado

(the precise moment of development, the exact course traveled).

This can be related to mental health because it can be tied back to a person's journey and struggles within themselves and how all it takes is a small cause to have a much larger effect to be able to improve ones well being.

Further exploring the butterfly effect theory I started my design process by recreating my own interpretation of that theory. This intervention breakdown shows the process of having a variety of oval shapes at different level heights, lofting, and creating a solid form from those ovals, then subtracting the form from a solid square block. Taking the shell of what is left of that form then rotating it 90 degrees on its side, trimming away pieces, then mirroring it, and then finally stretching the form horizontally and scaling it up vertically.

The interior of the building hosts the intervention form which was created to be self-supporting, its purpose aids in dividing spaces and adds visual interest and value to the interior shell of the building.

It’s vital to normalize the space through light materials and soft colors so it doesn’t look institutional.
