I am proposing a multifaceted mental health center that addresses institutional issues within the country of El Salvador. This center works closely on how to shift the conventional mental health stigma. The center will introduce impactful societal change by working closely with legislative officials.
By implementing legislative change that improves accessibility to mental health resources, will break these intergenerational loops, as well as the violence that is prevalent in the communities.
Population & Social Structure
After decades of trauma and brutality, El Salvador has left a trail of crime, poverty, and sociopolitical turmoil, including a civil war and current political instability.
Anxiety, depression, alcoholism, and suicide are the mental disorders with the highest prevalence. More than 6 million individuals are served by only 225 mental health workers in El Salvador, meaning mental health treatments, both inpatient and outpatient, are scarce.
SOURCE MATERIAL
(In chaos theory) this is the phenomenon where the idea that small causes may have large effects.
The butterfly effect is derived from the metaphorical example of disturbances
such as a faraway butterfly flapping its wings influencing the intricacies of a tornado
(the precise moment of development, the exact course traveled).
